The Golden Touch Story
Many years ago there lived a king named Midas👑.
King Midas was a powerful💪, yet greedy man🤑.
He spent his day counting his gold and at night🌃 he dreamed of great wealth💰.
No matter how much gold he got, it was never enough.
One day King Midas👑 was out in his beautiful rose garden🌹 when he met a satyr (half man👨, half goat🐐).
The satyr was lost, so King Midas👑 gave him some food🍛 and sent him back on the right way🛣️.
The satyr was very grateful😊 to the king👑 for his help.
He wanted to reward Midas by giving him one wish.
King Midas thought long and hard🤔.
How could one wish fulfill his many desires? In fact, Midas felt a little cheated😒 because he knew that the three wishes were the standard reward.
He was about to convey the same sentiment to the satyr when suddenly he had a brilliant idea💡.
The thought of wealth and treasure filled his mind💎📿💍💰.
"Gold!" The king shouted🗣️.
"I want everything I touch to turn to gold."
"Oh, I don't think that's a good idea💡," The satyr said🙄.
"You should reconsider your request."
But Midas insisted, and the satyr granted the wish.
Midas couldn't wait to test out his new gift🎁.
He went and picked up a rock.
As his eyes😮 widened in disbelief, the rock turned solid gold.
The king👑 was thrilled and started to touch everything in sight leaves🌿, acorns, flowers🌻🌼🏵️, grass and tree branches🌳.
I have a golden touch, he thought🤔.
He ran through the forest🏃.
The king👑 was happy at last😄.
He would be the richest man in the earth🌎.
Back at the palace🏰, King Midas demanded a huge celebration feast🎉🎊.
He wanted meat🍖, fruit🍎🍍🍊, cheese🧀 and bread🍞.
Nothing would be best for the king👑 now that he was going to get rich💸! As he sat down to eat🍛, the chair became gold at his touch💺.
He went to drink and the glass turned into a golden glass in his hand🍷.
Midas reached to take a sip of water🚰, but suddenly he choked on a lump of gold.
He grabbed a piece of bread🍞, bit into it.
That turned to gold too.
"Oh no!" The king cried😭. "I will starve to death⚰️!
At her father's cry😢, the king's younger daughter ran🏃♀️ to console him.
As she wrapped her arms around Midas🤗, she quickly turned into a golden statue🗽.
Sobbing, Midas fell and begged gods🙏 "I have learned my lesson! My wish was foolish🤡 and now I am being punished for it😥.
I have learned that money does not lead to happiness😊.
Family is more important👨👩👧👦.
Please take all the gold and let things return as they were" pleaded the king🙏.
The gods took pity on the king.
He was instructed to go to the Pactolus River🏞️ to remove the Midas touch by washing his entire body which was a curse😈 rather than a gift🎁.
👑 Midas ran🏃 towards the river and cleaned himself🌊.
He could see flecks of gold floating in the water💦.
When he stepped out of the river🏞️, his power💪 was gone and his daughter👨👧 had gone normal as she was.
King Midas👑 felt that he was now really happy☺️.
Moral of The Golden Touch Story
Don't be greedy in life🤑, be happy with what you have☺️.
People who want to get everything all at once usually end up getting emptyness in life☠️.
